Should I use salicylic acid or lactic acid?

Depends where your problem sits. Salicylic acid is oil-soluble, so it gets down inside the pore and dissolves the plug — that makes it the right choice for blackheads, whiteheads, congestion and oily skin. Lactic acid is water-soluble and works on the surface, so it’s better for dullness, dry flaky skin and uneven tone. If your nose and forehead feel bumpy and your skin is oily, you want this one. Should I choose 1% or 2%?

Start at 1% if your skin is sensitive, dry, or if you’ve never used an acid before. 2% is the standard dermatologist-recommended strength for home use and it’s what ships by default — go for it if your skin is oily, resilient, and you’re dealing with stubborn blackheads. Going straight to 2% every night as a beginner is the fastest way to a stripped barrier, which makes oil and breakouts worse, not better. Will this remove my acne scars?

It depends what you mean by scars, and the difference is worth understanding before you buy. Flat brown or red marks left where a spot healed will fade with consistent use over roughly 8 to 12 weeks. Rough, bumpy texture and enlarged pores improve too. But indented or pitted scars are a physical dent in the skin, and no serum lifts those — that needs microneedling, subcision or laser from a dermatologist. What is orange peel skin, and will this fix it?

Orange peel skin is that dimpled, rough look you get when pores are visibly enlarged and clogged, usually across the nose, cheeks and forehead. It’s caused by oil and dead skin building up inside the pore and stretching it. Salicylic acid is the right tool because it’s oil-soluble and works inside the pore rather than on top of it. I've started using it and I'm breaking out more. Should I stop?

Probably not — this is likely purging, and it’s the most common reason people give up on salicylic acid too early. The acid speeds up how fast congestion clears, so spots that were already forming under the surface come up sooner than they would have. It usually peaks in the first two weeks and settles by week four to six. The clue is location: purging happens where you normally break out. If you’re getting spots in new areas, or it’s still going past 8 weeks, that’s a reaction rather than a purge — stop and message us.

How often should I use it? Can I use it every day?

Start with two or three nights a week, not daily. Apply 3 to 4 drops to clean dry skin in the evening, then moisturiser on top. After three or four weeks, if your skin is comfortable, you can build up to every other night or daily. Night is better than morning because salicylic acid increases sun sensitivity. Daily from day one is the single most common mistake — it strips the barrier, and stripped skin produces more oil, which feeds exactly the problem you’re trying to fix.

How long until my blackheads clear?

Will it dry out my skin? I have sensitive skin.

It can if you overdo it, which is why we formulated it with aloe vera and panthenol to buffer the acid rather than selling salicylic acid on its own.
